Methodology

1. Published and indexable in both English and Simplified Chinese, with approved neutrality, image, and map review.
2. At least 18 reviewed images, substantive history, people, culture, food, landmark, and city-overview sections.
3. At least eight reviewed sources, a population reference from 2024 or later, approved district or county coverage, and four mapped landmarks.
4. At least one published, indexable city story that is specific to the place rather than produced by a generic template.

Scope and reuse

This is a curated editorial compilation, not an official statistical release and not a complete list of Chinese cities. Values retain their stated year and scope and should not be combined as if they shared one statistical definition. Referenced facts, imagery, source records, and map geometry retain their original terms. Cite this page and the underlying city sources when reusing the preview; contact us for broader republication or commercial use.

What comes next

The next production milestone is 80 complete cities, with 100 as the stretch target. Incomplete city pages remain outside the dataset until every gate passes.
